How to know what size to order in motorcycle footwear

To choose your size in motorcycle footwear, do not start from the number you usually buy: measure both feet, take the longer one as your reference and compare the result with the model's current guide. Size is only one part of the fit; the last, the width, the instep, your sock and the construction all change how a pair feels.

How to measure your feet at home

  1. Measure at the end of the day, when the foot tends to be slightly more expanded.
  2. Wear the kind of sock you will normally use with the footwear.
  3. Place a sheet of paper on a hard surface and rest your heel naturally.
  4. Mark the rearmost point of your heel and the tip of your longest toe.
  5. Measure the distance in centimetres and repeat with the other foot.
  6. Keep the larger measurement to consult the product table.

Do not round down. If your result falls between two references, check the model's published width first and ask for guidance before choosing on instinct.

How to read the size guide

The Umberto Luce guide maps centimetres to MX, EU and US sizes. For a purchase in Mexico, use the centimetres column first and then identify the matching MX size. Avoid converting from another brand: two pairs with the same number can feel different because of the shape of the last.

The current table shows, for example, references from 24.8 cm and intermediate sizes. Actual availability depends on the product. Always consult the guide visible on the product page you are buying from, because the catalogue and the active sizes can change.

The right size does not guarantee the same fit in every model

Length keeps your toes from being compressed, but the internal volume determines how the foot is distributed. A high instep may feel pressure even when the length is correct; a narrow foot may sense movement in a wide last. The closure matters too: laces, a side zip or a combination let you adjust different areas.

How you read the fit also changes by category. A boot wraps a larger area of ankle and leg, while a sneaker ends lower down. That is why it is wrong to conclude that a boot "runs small" just because it feels more present around the ankle. Separate the assessment: length first, then width and instep, and finally heel and ankle hold.

If you are comparing two models, record length, width, instep and hold separately. That reading is far more useful than describing the whole fit as "big" or "small".

What to check in Dune, Bonhan Classics, Nolds and Rooney

  • Dune: a Rider+ boot with a published 2E last. Check the instep room and the ankle hold.
  • Bonhan Classics: a Rider sneaker on a 2E last. The low silhouette changes the feel against a boot even in the same size.
  • Nolds: a Rider+ boot with a side zip; set the laces to your foot before judging the hold.
  • Rooney: a Rider+ boot with a published 2E last; confirm size and availability directly on the product page.

How to check the fit without losing your right to exchange

Try the pair indoors, on a clean surface and with the sock you normally wear. Loosen the closure system completely to get your foot in; then adjust from the bottom up. Walk for a few minutes and check that your toes can move without your heel lifting excessively.

Do not go out riding, remove accessories or mark the sole while you decide. The current policy allows you to request an exchange or return within the first 30 days of receipt if the footwear is new, unworn and still has its box, laces and original accessories. Outlet items, last pairs and clearance are not eligible. See the full exchange and return conditions.

Signs of a fit worth reviewing

Your toes should not be folded or hit the front when you walk. Your heel may move slightly in a new pair, but continuous, wide lifting deserves a look. Localised pressure that causes pain, numbness or a change of colour is not a signal to "put up with it until it gives". A firm, even sensation, on the other hand, can be part of new footwear if the length is right and it does not restrict movement.

When in doubt, photograph your foot on the measuring guide and describe exactly where the problem is. That information lets support help you far better than a general phrase like "it came out too small".

Frequently asked questions

Should I order the size I wear in other brands?

Not necessarily. Use your foot measurement in centimetres and the product guide as your main reference.

What if one foot is longer?

Choose based on the longer foot and check the hold on the smaller one during the indoor test.

Is it worth ordering a size up for thick socks?

Measure wearing that sock and check the width. Going up a size without measuring can create unnecessary movement.

See the current size guide and, if the pair does not fit as you expected, follow this size exchange guide.
