If your motorcycle footwear does not fit as you expected, stop testing it outdoors and keep the pair in the condition it arrived in. Check the closure and your sock, work out whether the problem is length or volume, and contact Umberto Luce with your order number, model and size.
First work out what is not fitting
- Length: your toes hit the front, or there is too much room ahead of them.
- Width: there is constant pressure on the sides, or sideways movement.
- Instep: the closure compresses the top of your foot even after readjusting.
- Heel: it lifts excessively when you walk with the pair properly closed.
- Entry: it is hard to get your foot in because the closure system was not fully loosened.
A firm sensation does not automatically mean the size is wrong, but neither should you expect painful pressure to "disappear with use". Leather can adapt, but it does not correct an inadequate length or substitute for a correct fit from the start.

Run a second test, but indoors only
- Use a clean, dry surface.
- Put on the sock you will normally wear.
- Loosen the laces and open the side zip completely where there is one.
- Set your heel all the way back and adjust from the bottom up.
- Walk for a few minutes without forcing the footwear to flex.
- Repeat with both feet; they rarely measure exactly the same.
If the problem persists, do not ride in the pair. A marked sole or signs of wear can affect your eligibility for an exchange. Keep the box, laces and original accessories.
How to request a size exchange
The Umberto Luce policy, updated on 15 May 2026, allows you to request exchanges or returns within the first 30 days of receiving the package. To open a case, send your order number, contact details, model, size and photographs where applicable through the contact page.
In Mexico, the United States and Canada, one size exchange by standard postal service is included at no cost for eligible cases. Express courier carries an additional charge. If there is no stock but the model is still current, the brand may produce the size; that can extend the time to resolution. Always consult the full, current policy.
What happens with outlet and last pairs
Items identified as outlet, last pairs or clearance are not eligible for exchanges or returns. That condition should be checked before you pay; it does not depend on the model, but on the sales status shown on the product page.
What to prepare before contacting support
Have the email address used for the purchase, the order number, the exact model name and the size you received to hand. Explain which foot the problem appears on, in which area, and whether you were wearing your usual sock. If you send photos, include an overall view of the pair, the clean sole and the point of adjustment you are unsure about. There is no need to force the footwear to demonstrate the problem.
If you are after another size, say which one you have in mind and share the measurement of both feet in centimetres. The team can compare it against the guide and check availability. If the model is still current but the size is out of stock, the policy states it can be produced, although the timeline will be longer.

Mistakes that complicate an exchange
- Going out on the street or riding "just to try them".
- Marking, dirtying or modifying the sole.
- Applying oils, creams or heat to try to stretch the footwear.
- Removing or losing accessories and the original packaging.
- Waiting until the end of the window to report the problem.
A size exchange, a return and a warranty are not the same thing
A size exchange solves a fit problem on a new product. A return asks to send back an eligible purchase. A warranty covers possible manufacturing defects after an assessment. Describing your case correctly avoids unnecessary steps and helps route it to the right process.
For manufacturing defects, the current policy states 12 months of cover on the Rider and Everyday lines, and 24 months on Rider+ and Everyday+ for purchases made from 1 January 2026. Cover does not include misuse, accidents or external modifications.
Frequently asked questions
Does leather give with use?
It can adapt at flex points, but that expectation should not be used to correct a short size or painful pressure.
Can I change model as well as size?
The outcome depends on eligibility, availability and the conditions in force. Explain your case to the support team before sending the pair back.
What information should I send?
Order number, name, model, size, a precise description of the fit and photographs where relevant.
Before your next purchase, read how to measure your foot and choose a size. If you already have the pair, contact the Umberto Luce team before wearing it outside.
